Carolyn Haller (nee Whittaker) is a character on the series, Harpers Falls: New Beginnings.  She was originally played by actress Susan Hogan, best known for her role of Ellen Bazile, the understanding mother of Baze, and the grandmother of Lux on the series, Life Unexpected, but when she ended her contract, the role was recast with actress Amy Aquino.

The mother of Nicholas Haller; Audrey Haller; and Tracy Haller, Carolyn is a warm-hearted woman, whose New England upbringing exudes gentleness, warmth, and occasionally a mite bit of stubbornness!

Carolyn grew up in Montpelier, Vermont, and had always been in New England at one point or another.  She met and married her husband, and from this union, her three children were born.  Nicholas was practical like her; Audrey was more sensitive and caring; while Tracy was more blunt and outspoken.

For many years, Carolyn lived in Toronto, which was close by to where her daughters, Audrey and Tracy lived.  However, when her granddaughter, Jacqueline Haller moved into Toronto and got a job at CTLS, a local television station, she was thrilled to be around her.

Yet, when Jacqueline unexpectedly was transferred back to Boston, (after CTLS was sold to a conservative think tank by the spiteful former station manager and the former owner, who stole it from the network) she would move with her family back to Boston with no thoughts.

Carolyn is reveling in her new home, and she is proud to be near Nicholas, Jacqueline, his girlfriend, Taylor Addison and her new grandson, Nicky.

As played by Amy Aquino, Carolyn has become a lot less stodgy and has become a more vital part of the community. She is not ready to marry again, but she has a great time with those she loves.
