The Atchley Mansion, home of Craig Atchley

The Atchley mansion (sometimes called the Atchley/Bennett Mansion, because of the two families who live there) is one of the main settings and one of the central locales on the series, Harpers Falls. In the show's continuity, it is located at 220 Mount Auburn Street in the Boston suburb of Cambridge.

It is presently the home of Craig Atchley; his daughter, Maggie Harper Atchley (who owns the house in perpetuity, from her mother); her great aunt, Samantha Bennett; her paternal uncle, Steven Bennett; his nephew, Jayson Bennett; her grandmother, Elspeth Bennett; and her aunt Maranda Boudoin. Also living with them is long-time family housekeeper, Jeanne Buxley, who had been there from the beginning. A more recent arrival is her Uncle Steven's aunt, Ardith Bennett. Her arrival has really shaken up the staid mansion!  Recently joining the family was Ardith's sisters, Laura; Marie; and Evelyn

Also employed there are numerous housemaids; footmen, butlers, cooks and other support staff.

The mansion often serves as a center point of meeting for the Harper family, much like the old Harper estate back in Brockton used to be. Since Craig is married to Hannah Harper Atchley, the mansion is now owned in perpetuity by his daughter, Maggie.

Having been the focal point of both happy times, and sad times, the Atchley mansion is also substantial enough for most everyone in the Harper circle to take shelter in during extreme weather events, such as the blizzard of 2015 and the recent 2016 blizzard, which had hidden the death of Lance VanCortlandt, which had devastated his girlfriend, Jacqueline Haller.

The power plant for the Atchley mansion is underneath the ground, reached only by a tunnel from the main house. It is connected to the power grid, and the Atchleys pay a yearly fee for the power grid, but they find it worth it.

The mansion is substantial, as one can be within an urban area like Cambridge. With over 50 bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen; servants quarters, high-ceilinged state rooms, and the like, the Atchley Mansion exudes opulence, but yet also maintains a distinct hominess as befits the Harper, Bennett and Atchley families.

At first, the mansion was owned by the Atchleys for many years; however, when Hannah died, the mansion maintained Harper ownership, as the ownership is now held by Craig and Hannah's daughter, Maggie.

Happily, Hannah was revealed to be alive when it was discovered that the "Hannah" that was killed was a body double. Hannah still let the house be in her daughter's hands as she wants to keep a low profile. Months of being in hiding has caused her to keep herself to herself mostly, except for her family.
